Meadow Brook Intermediate Band

Welcome Back!

Hello Meadow Brook Band Families! WELCOME TO BAND!                                                                     Unknown.png

We are so excited to start the year with our amazing band students! We are starting a bit differently this year, in order to give everyone time to get squared away with an instrument and supplies. Since we were unable to do our instrument fittings last May, we will be helping students choose their instrument during the first week of class! We will communicate with you about this process, and make sure both students and parents/guardians are happy with the instrument choice. Once students have been “fit” for their instrument, families will have until October 5th to obtain the instrument and supplies! We hope this schedule will provide families ample time to make necessary arrangements. If there are issues preventing families from getting an instrument by October 5th, please contact your band director for assistance. We want every student to be able to participate in band. Let us help if we can! On the next page, you will see information about how to get everything you need through our local music stores--Larsen and Palen Music. We are so excited to meet everyone and have an outstanding year in band at Meadow Brook!

Since we are not starting on all instruments (some percussion will be starting as soon as possible), the band directors have devised special music making opportunities. This will include body percussion ensembles or other music making opportunities prior to starting on “real” instruments. This will be a very fun time of getting to know each other while making music. Watch for performances from these ensembles on social media! We will share what we can, when we can, in the safest manner we can.

It is extremely important that parents are able to get the information they need to help their students get going as a musician. There are SIX ways for students and parents to receive information about band:

  1. Email Mrs. Tracy, Dr. Raiber, and Mr. Steward (see bottom of this page)

  2. “Like” and “Follow” our Mustang Meadow Brook Beginning Band Facebook page

  3. Make sure you are enrolled in the Beginning Band Canvas page for your student’s band class (most info. will be found here!)

  4. Use Powerschool to check on your child’s grades in band

  5. Regularly check our class web page: (Select Meadow Brook Intermediate from the “Campus” drop down at the top of the page).

  6. Sign up for Remind texts from Mrs. Tracy starting August 31st. (please wait until you know which instrument your student will play!)

If you click on the "MBI Files" link, you will find the band information packet and course syllabus. Included in the band packet are Instrument Rental Information, Important (tentative) Dates, Behavior Expectations, Recommended Supplies and Equipment, and Band Contract Signature Instructions via google forms. The calendar and information will be updated regularly, so you are highly encouraged to check the Beginning Band Canvas page often. We have set up TWO Google Forms on the Beginning Band Canvas page for you to complete. They only need to be completed once. Please fill out the Google Forms by Friday, August 28th.  Completion of these two tasks will count as the students’ first assessment grade.

We are extremely excited to get the year rolling!  Let us know if we can help you in any way

Hello Meadow Brook Band Family! We miss you all so very much, and look forward to connecting with you again! The first thing we need to say is that our primary concern during this time is our students and their families. It is our goal to communicate as clearly and precisely as we can, so please make sure that you have joined the REMIND for your class. This is the fastest way to get information that pertains to band alone. You can find links to join for your child's class on the right side of this page.

New date on calendar!

Hello all!

Please view/print the most updated calendar under "MBI Files." We have added a field trip to the OKC Philharmonic on Wednesday, November 6th. It will be during the school day, and pizza will be provided for MBI students when they return. I will ask for dietary concerns when the date gets closer. Thank you! -Mrs. Tracy
