Chris Ozinga

Assistant Director of Bands; Director of Percussion

Chris Ozinga is currently in his sixth year as Assistant Director of Bands and Associate Percussion Director for Mustang Public Schools.

Prior to teaching in Mustang, Mr. Ozinga taught in Choctaw-Nicoma Park from 2011-2014 and in Edmond from 2007-2011. Ensembles he works with consistently achieve high levels of musical and competitive success. Mr. Ozinga remains an active performer and private studio educator in the Oklahoma City area. Chris is a founding member of Rhythm405, a professional percussion group based in Oklahoma City. He is also a founding director of Resistance Indoor Percussion, a non-profit indoor percussion group developed to promote and enhance the indoor percussion activity in Oklahoma. Chris earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and Music Performance from Alma College in Alma, Michigan, studying with Dave Zerbe, and a Master’s Degree in Music Performance from Oklahoma City University, studying with Dr. David Steffens. Chris is a member of Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Oklahoma Bandmasters Association, and Percussive Arts Society.
